Fairchild asks for thruway funding
TRANSPORTATION

“This
project
is
the
keystone
for
improving
safety
and
congestion
as
well
as
furthering
economic
development
in
central
Pennsylvania,”
said
Rep.
Fairchild.
Rep.
Fairchild
and
Rep.
Merle
Phillips
have
asked
that
$3.7
million
be
directed
toward
final
design,
right-of-way
acquisition
and
utility
relocation
in
the
first
four
years.
Also
called
for
$199.3
million
in
construction
funding
to
be
spent
on
the
project
in
the
first
four
years
of
the
12-year
plan.

service,

cars

repairing
used
ones
at
the
former
Pennsylvania
Railroad
car
shops
—
now
Renovo
Industrial Park
.
Renovo
Rail
Car's
main
focus
will
be
producing
and
repairing
rail
cars
for
the
municipal,
construction
and
demolition
waste
industries.
According
to
Wes
Grand,
CEO

Clinton
Economic
Partnership,
“So
far,
there's
a
$700,000
local
investment
in
the
project.
Local
investors
and
local
involvement
were
key
components
to
make
this
project
happen.”
