Life Sciences in Pennsylvania
The Life Sciences Greenhouse of Central PA (LSGPA) has been formed to accelerate economic growth and job creation through commercialization of discoveries in the life sciences. A public/private venture with input and resources from government, business, universities, and economic development partners, it services a 49-county area with life sciences hubs in Centre County, the Lehigh Valley, and the Harrisburg-Hershey area. LSGPA intends to meet its goals through accelerated technology transfer, shared lab and equipment opportunities, technology development funding, gap funding for new startups, patent protection funding, relocation assistance, business services, and workforce development.

The Wood Cluster Initiative is an effort by state economic developers, industry representatives and educators to develop interest in and prepare students for gainful employment or postsecondary education related to the forest and wood industry. It begins with students' self awareness of interests and abilities related to the industry in the lower grade levels, leads to job and career awareness in the middle grades and finally job preparation in the upper levels.
