Mifflin County IDC Gets Things Done for First Quality
Lewistown Sentinel-March 18, 2009 MCIDC recently worked with First Quality to place them in a 1-million-square-foot facility in Granville Township. Rob Postal, MCIDC President said, “This is one of the biggest construction projects of its kind in Pennsylvania and employs a couple hundred people. Although the project is not complete, First Quality already has begun production of baby products at the plant. "Our role was to bring infrastructure to that site," Postal said of the water, sewer and other improvements MCIDC helped secure for the facility. There is still a need for more electricity at the plant, and Postal said different options are being discussed with First Energy and the township to increase access to the power supply. "We could handle this because we are a very lean company and very productive. Our job was to keep up with First Quality," Postal said of the quick pace set by the company and its desire to begin production as soon as possible. Full Story ->
2 mil SF Warehouse and Distribution Center Space in KOZ to be available
Williamsport Sun-Gazette, April 6, 2009 Arcadia Properites has announced plans to develop 250 acres of commercial property in Fairfield Township, Lycoming at the site known as Timber End. Three facilities ranging from 100,000 sf to 1,400,000 sf are planned for a total of 2 million sf of space. The site is just off I-180 and only eight miles from the intersection of I-80. Full Story ->

Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation to obtain building improvement loan for Kardex building
Lewistown Sentinel April 16, 2009 MCIDC is looking to obtain approximately $800,000 in ARRA funding to improve buildings, including the 240,000 sf of space occupied by Kardex USA, Inc., a local manufacturer of automated storage and retrieval systems which was recently acquired by a Zurich, Switzerland-based company. Kardex chose the site to consolidate their operations from Maine and Ohio. Full Story ->
Icon Modular Homes to double capacity within two years of beginning Operations
PA Business Central-April 2009 Icon Legacy Custom Modular Homes held its ribbon cutting at their new facility on April 23, with plans to double their production capacity with only two years in operation. Icon manufactures single and multi-family homes in addition to light commercial buildings. Icon now has 75 people on staff and plans to add an additional 50 people by the end of 2010. Full Story ->
Williamsport Sun-Gazette April 17, 2009 A twin turbo six-cylinder engine, the first to have a fully integrated electronic system is being developed by Williamsport based Lycoming Engines. The technology has demand and is also used in the automotive industry. This operation is possible in part due to a three-way agreement among Lycoming County commissioners, Lycoming County Industrial Development Authority and Lycoming Engines and a $1.5 million state Redevelopment Capital Assistance Project grant. Rte 15 Selinsgrove bypass back on Governor's Agenda Lycoming/Snyder County
Williamsport Sun-Gazette April 25, 2009 On Friday, April 24, Mark Murawski, Lycoming County transportation planner stated that Governor Ed Rendell is pursuing federal funding to aid in the $525 million project to build a 12-mile four-lane limited-access highway bypass around a section of Route 15 between Selinsgrove and Shamokin Dam in order to relieve congestion. Murawski indicated that the state has already spent 30 million on preliminary design and right of way acquisitions and plans to invest $9 million for the projects final design. Full Story ->
Regional Grocer Weis Markets to invest $80 million in capital expenditures
